SAP File System backup using DB13

1) Run Tx code SE16N (Or any utility u like) to edit stanard table SDBAC to add the new Action into DB13

Type -->File
DataBase -->*
OP System -->*
Language -->EN
DBA Action -->File System
DBA Action -->File System Backup
Server -->DBHOST
Exec Mode -->EXT
Command -->ZFILESYSTEM

2) Create OS level Script for taking file system backup using any OS utility here XCOPY
File is saved as H:\test\file.cmd with text

xcopy F:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\profile H:\test

3)Edit table sxpgcotabe as below
Command Name -->ZFILESYSTEM
OP.Sys -->External Program
ANYOS -->H:\test\file.bat

4)Go to DB13 you can see new action as File system Backup
5)For testing execute immediately , later on can be scheduled as needed
6)If you want to have offline backup of file system need to edit script to shutdown SAP and start accordignly .

This can be utilized to schedule file system backup for Java systems specially and also XCOPY options can be explored as it support file sync as well.

Access SAP GUI using Excel

Process to integrate SAP GUI with Excel sheet , so in case you have number of systems to manage you can maintain passwordless login .

We will Use SAP Shortcut to achieve the same.

Enable Password field

1) open regedit
2) go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\
3)Right Click on SAP -->New--> Key with name SAPShortcut--> Then using Same above Step create a key name "Security" under "SAPShortcut"
4)Now Right Click on the Security --> New --> String Value Give name "EnablePassword" to this and Set it Value 1
5) Close window

Create Shortcut

6) Login to SAP
7) Got to Customize Local Layout or ALT+F12 , select create shortcut
8) Provide detail(Password etc) and save somewhere in desktop, we recommended to save in some secure folder as using this shortcut any one can login to SAP GUI without proving password

Integrate With Excel

9) Open excel , type SID or ant description you want to give for shortcut
10) Right click and select hyperlink (Select the shortcut you have created earlier)
11) Save file and then try to access , you will be routed to SAP GUI with couple of warnings , to avoid warning follow below steps

Microsoft Excel Warnings

12) Disable hyperlink warnings for 2007 Office programs

""To disable the hyperlink warnings in 2007 Office Programs when an http:// address, notes:// or an ftp:// address is used, you must create a new registry subkey. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open dialog box, type regedit, and then click OK.
In Registry Editor, locate one of the following registry subkeys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common
NoteYou only have to modify one of these registry subkeys. You do not have to modify both of them.
Note If the Security subkey already exists, skip to Step 6 after selecting the Security subkey.
Click the registry subkey, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click Key.

Still you will get one more warning to avoid that

Turn off the "Confirm open after download" option for the file type that you are trying to open

"Double-click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the File Types tab, select the appropriate file name extension SAP in the Registered File Types box, and then click Advanced.
Click to clear the Confirm open after download check box, and then click OK.
In the Folder Options dialog box, click Close.
Method 2: Modify the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMVFile\EditFlags registry subkey
Use this method if the warning message affects multiple computers. "

Now enjoy wil shortcuts , but dont forget to update shortcut if you will change your SAP password .

Moreover you can put one extra password for excel sheet also .

We recommend not to use this in any critical system as it can be a security issue.

SAP Webdispatcher Installation and configuration

1) Download SAP WEBDISPATCHER executables from service market place

http://service.sap.com/patches under SAP NETWEAVER --> SAP NETWEAVER 04 -->Binary Patches -->SAP KERNEL (32/64Bit, unicode/non-unicode) --> -->Database Independent. Here you can download the kernel packet DW.SAR, this contains the SAP Web dispatcher (sapwebdisp).

2) Create a new directory in G:/usr/sap as sapwebdispatcher

3) Copy files sapwebdisp and icmadmin.SAR into this directory from downloaded DW.SAR

4) Extract icmadmin.SAR using SAPCAR

5) Generation of profile for the first time run command

G:\usr\sap\sapwebdisp>sapwebdisp –bootstrap

6) Then provide input as prompted

rdisp/mshost=hostname1

ms/http_port=8112

Instance number for SAP Webdispatcher = 11

HTTP Port number for SAP WebDispatcher=8011

create configuration for Small(S)

7) It will generate Auth file icmauth.txt

8) Note down the user name and password from that window itself

9) Sapwebdisp.pfl,Add another line for redirecting URLs(Example for EP)

icm/HTTP/admin_0= PREFIX/sap/wdisp/admin,DOCROOT=./admin,AUTHFILE=icmauth.txt

icm/http/redirect_0 = /prefix=/, TO=/irj/portal,port 51100,HOST=EPHOST

10) Now start the WEBDISPATCHER using

sapwebdisp pf=sapwebdisp.pfl - auto_restart

Now we can access portal using webdispatcher server

11) Now we can access portal using webdispatcher server

RFC Destination export/import using R3trans

This can be used to take backup of RFC destinations before systm copy and can be restored once system copy is over.

1) Login to SAP Server with sidadm user
2) create a file with rfcexp.dat with below mentioned data

3) Run command R3trans -w rfcexp.log F:\rfcexp.dat

5) For import create file rfcimp.dat with following content

RFCs should be imported

SSO between 2 SAP's Java Products

Dear All,

Today I am going to share info regarding SSO between two java systems.

* Export the public key certificate of the cryptographic key pair that is used for ticket signature generation out of the store that stores it in JAVA1(EP).

* Import this public key certificate into the store in JAVA2(BI) that stores the certificate of all trusted Single Sign-On parties.

1) TO Export Follow:

Log on as user which has the role system_admin assigned. In the top level navigation, navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration and then in the detailed navigation to Keystore Administration. In the appearing iView click on "download verify.der". The browser will download the DER encoded certificate within a zip file. Unpack it and save the certificate in the file system of your desktop computer.

2) TO Import:
Log on as user which has the role system_admin assigned. In the top level navigation, navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration and then in the detailed navigation to Keystore Administration. Click on the tab "Import trusted".

Click the browse button and select the certificate file you exported. Enter an alias of your choice (e.g. cert_from_JAVA1, in order to keep the system administer able choose a name that allows you to recognize afterward from which system this certificate came).

That is all, and its applicable for EP 6.0.

Oracle on Windows Server 2008

Its Nice to have experience for installing oracle on windows server after long time, more over it was windows server 2008 , so something new was expected ...Here we go

First surprise was we cannot install the Oracle version 10.2.0.1.0 and then
install patchset 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.4.....Great

So what to do now!!! No problem , not a big deal we have to install the Oracle Version 10.2.0.4.0. It is currently available on the SMP DVD number is 51036975.

Dont forget to read SAP Note 1303262 - Oracle on Windows Server 2008

Java systems appear with clients in Solution manager SMSY

Dear All,

Recently we have upgraded to Solution manager EHP1, and we faced a issue after this.

Error: After creating a system in SMSY as java component(ABAP+JAVA), we are not able to use the system in logical component if i am selecting java component.

It will show java system with clients,even though no clients exist. We are then unable to use these systems in quality gate management.

Below Note will resolve the problem

Also you need to perform this manual activity

Create messages 90 and 91 in the message class SOLAR_SPROJECT with the following texts:
Message 90: No communication system for system &1
Message 91: No RFC destination for communication system &1
Use transaction SE91 to create messages.

Below is the solution for error/dump you receive during the transaction solman_setup in solution mnaager.

Error: The URL http:///sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/wd_sise_main_app was not called due to an error.

The following error text was processed in the system SOL : Text 005 Not Found

Solution: 1) Check if service is activated sap/wd_sise_main_app
2) Implement Note 1371792 - Random product version displayed in SMSY configuration
3) - Call transaction SE24, enter the class CL_SMSY_WD_UI_ASSIST, and choose "Display".
- Follow the menu path "Goto -> Text elements".
- Choose "Change".
- Choose "Insert Row".
- In the "Sym" column, enter 005 and in the "Text" column, enter "Several product versions".
- Save your entries.
- Activate the changes

It should be resolved .

Default Setting on List when Exporting out of SAP

Dear All,

Recently we have upgraded to ECC 6, Many users ran a report and when they selected the list they mistakenly ticked always use selected format.

The problem with the spreadsheet download is at one point, users have selected their default file type.

The following steps should be performed :

1) Call transaction SE38, enter program SALV_BS_ADMIN_MAINTAIN, and press F8.

2) Follow the parameters below :

3) Select DELETE on the Actions Group

4) Select DETAILED SELECTION on the General Data :

5) On Client - your number

6) User :

7) Hit EXECUTE.

8) Press ENTER on the POPUP

9) If there is an entry in the report that will need to be deleted.

Also, make sure that the entry you will delete (for the user) has a value of GUI_ALV_XML_VER on field Parameter.

10) Select the line and hit the DELETE icon .

11) Press Y to continue delete. Press ENTER on the popup.

12) Then EXIT all the way out of the program.

How to Install NW7.0 EHP1 - BI Dual Stack System (Workaround)

Hi All,

I came to know new interesting point regarding SAP 7.0 EHP1 that in standard sapinst there is no option to install SAP BI with dual stack ..So its little bit tricky to install it and SAP Has given workaround solution for this .Three possible solutions are:

1) Make a system copy from exising DUAL stack system SAPINST with SR3.
2) Install SAP BI SR3 and then upgrade to EHP1
3) And last one update usages_data.xml
from service market

So best option i can see is just repalce usages_data.xml
with exising but

If you use this procedure for a new BI dual stack installation, you accept possible future migration effort to split the dual stack into two single stack systems (ABAP and Java).

to get the latest usages_data.xml you need to go through NOTE#1181025, download the file and Replace file \NW701\WEBAS\\PD\usages_data.xml and \NW701\WEBAS\\HA\usages_data.xml with the attached usages_data.txt file (Causion: you need to change the file extension from txt to xml).

After this Start SAPinst

On the Welcome screen, choose SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 -> SAP Application Server Java -> -> Central System

On screen "SAP System > Software Units" you can select AS ABAP in addition to the available Java usage types or software units.

Follow the instructions on the SAPinst screens.

2) If not able to continue do as per below:

a) Edit file control.xml in your installation directory as follows:
b) Search for "this.runCatproc = function(sqlContext)".
c) Go to "script.execute_AbortOnFailure();" some lines below.
d) Replace "script.execute_AbortOnFailure();" with "script.execute();"
e) Restart SAPinst and choose "Continue with the Old Option".

It will work...

Namskar ...i am back after a long break .Reason for stop blogging is little bit funny as this site was blocked at my workplace . But still i have collected lots of information for you all and will publish shortly ..But this first post is dedicated to SAP Teched 2009 Banglore.

It was a great experience to join this event got unlimited inspiration from the real GURUs of SAP.Here are some highlights of Event :

1) Vishal Sikka — Corporate Officer and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of SAP spoke about new technology , but thing touched me is his style of starting speech , He started this in HINDI , and i was really feeling proud on that.

2) Next impression was from Mr.Christian Oehler from SAP Business Suite Solution Management who spoke all about Enhancement package .He delivers awesome lecture .

3) Big event for the first day was Demo Jam , i enjoyed this a lot personally .

Rest all was very enjoying and request you to all attend the same in next year.

4) Hands-on is really a very good experience , after attending the same i feel that i have done something.

ENABLE HTTPS IN SAP

HI All,

Here is the procedure to activate the HTTPS for SAP system.

1) 1) Download SAP Cryptographic from SAP service market place

Service market place

From above link download SAP Cryptographic Library for your OS.

2) Uncar the archive using SAPCAR –xvf and copy the same to kernel directory.(/sapmnt/SID/EXE)

3) Add SAP profile parameter(RZ10) icm/server_port_2 = PROT=HTTPS, PORT= ,restart system.

4) Run command on OS level with user sidadm

sapgenpse gen_pse -p SAPSSLS.pse

it will prompt for certain inputs and passwords provide the same and finish.

5) Go to SMICM and check available services ,https should be in active mode to work perfectly.

If its not try to troubleshoot....

Here is the procedure to upgrade the oracle 9i to 10g (9.2.0.6 to 10.2.0.4) ...

Some Notes You might need in between:

1) Note 841728 - 10.2: Solutions for installation and upgrade problems

2) Note 819830 - Oracle Database 10g: Additional Information on upgrade:UNIX

3) Note 886783 - Installing Oracle 9207 Client Software on UNIX

4) Note 600141 - Oracle9i: Automatic UNDO Management

5) Note 819829 - Oracle Instant Client Installation and Configuration on Unix

6) Note 830577 - Oracle Database 10g: ORA-21700 when upgrading to 10.1/10.2

7) Note 871735 - Current patch set for Oracle 10.2.0

Prerequisites for unix system :

1. Checking the Correct UNIX Users, Groups, and Authorizations:
Enter the following commands with user orasid:
touch /oracle/write_test
rm /oracle/write_test
umask 022
2) Checking the Directory Structure
Create the staging directory /oracle/stage/102_64.
Extract OR110264.SAR from CD 51031670 to /oracle/stage/102_64
Now perform the following:
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database OR
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1
mv SAP SAP_ORIG

3) Download RDBMS_SAP_64.zip from note #819830 and copy it over to the
/oracle/stage /102_64/database directory

4) Extract the zip file:
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database OR
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1
Unzip RDBMS_SAP_64.zip (You should now see the directory SAP extracted which
contains the updated version of SAP-specific files)

5) Check the Oracle inventory directory /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc
The default location for the Oracle inventory is $ORACLE_BASE/oraInventory

6) Create the empty Oracle home directory before starting the OUI.
/oracle//102_64

7) Running the Pre-Upgrade Script
Execute the following commands:
sqlplus /nolog
SQL> connect / as sysdba
SQL> spool /tmp/pre_upgrade.log
SQL> @/oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP/utlu102i.sql
SQL> spool off
SQL> exit
(You can check the results of the pre-upgrade script by looking at the log file /tmp/pre_upgrade.log.)

8) Checking the Prerequisites for the Oracle Universal Installer
Log in as the Oracle user ora.
Execute the following commands:
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1
./runInstaller –executeSysPrereqs
(If the OUI complains that the operating system version is not certified or
supported, you can ignore this.If OUI reports missing OS patches, you need to
apply these before you can continue. )

9) Download the latest version of the Oracle Client software ‒ OCL1020464.SAR
Before you start installing / extracting the Oracle client software please
shutdown the SAP application running on that host.Updating the Oracle client
software online (when the SAP system is still running) is not supported and may
result in system errors/inconsistencies.
Now do the following:
mv /oracle/client/10x_64 /oracle/client/10x_64_ORIG
mkdir /oracle/client/10x_64
IMPORTANT!! Go up to this directory, cd /oracle/client/10x_64
SAPCAR -xvf /tmp/OCL1020464.SAR
(Refer Note # 886783)

10) Execute the SQL script sapconn_role.sql as follows:
cp /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP/sapconn_role.sql $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
sqlplus /nolog @sapconn_role

11) 9. Migrating to Automatic Undo Management
Read SAP Note 600141,

12) 10. Stopping Statspack Reports (If running)
Log on as the user under which the statspack jobs run (usually PERFSTAT):
SQL> connect PERFSTAT/
SQL> select job, what from user_jobs;
This displays a list of the jobs that are currently entered under the user PERFSTAT.
Delete all jobs with the print job number :
SQL> connect PERFSTAT/
SQL> execute dbms_job.remove( );

13)Checking the SYSTEM and SYSAUX Tablespace for Free space
Make sure that the SYSTEM and SYSAUX tablespaces have at least between 500 MB and 750 MB freespace.
(If your source database is Oracle 9.2, there is no SYSAUX tablespace. In this case you can ignore references to the SYSAUX tablespace in this section. )
Check Space by:
brspace –f dbshow –c tsinfo –s SYSTEM
brspace –f dbshow –c tsinfo –s SYSAUX
If the size is less then 750 MB of freespace extend the tablespace.

14) Checking for Invalid Database Objects
a). Execute the following commands:
SQL> spool invalid_objects
SQL> select unique object_name, object_type, owner from dba_objects where status ='INVALID';
SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
SQL> select unique object_name, object_type, owner from dba_objects where status ='INVALID';
SQL> spool off
A) list of invalid objects before the upgrade is now generated.Invalid Objects Before upgrade
B) Check the list of invalid objects after the upgrade.If any objects in the list from before the upgrade are also in the list of invalid objects after the upgrade, you can be sure that this is not due to the upgrade process.

Oracle Software Installation( started )

1) Set the environment variables below by editing the files .dbenv_.sh and .dbenv_.csh in the home directory of ora.
(Do not make the changes to the environment permanent as long as the old database is still running)

a). Make sure the following environment variables are not set:
n TWO_TASK
n ORA_NLS
n ORA_NLS32
n ORA_NLS33

b). Set the following environment variables:
DISPLAY :0.0 (It is the host on which the OUI will be displayed.)
ORACLE_BASE /oracle
ORACLE_SID
ORACLE_HOME /oracle//102_64
NLS_LANG Set this to the output of the script CHECKS.SQL (/oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP . The database must be open before you execute the script CHECKS.SQL. )
ORA_NLS10 $ORACLE_HOME/nls/data
SAPDATA_HOME /oracle/
SHLIB_PATH $ORACLE_HOME/lib:$SHLIB_PATH

c). Include $ORACLE_HOME/bin in your PATH or path variable, replacing the existing variable with the new one:
set path = ($ORACLE_HOME/bin $path)
Check if the temporary directory (usually /tmp) has at least 400 MB of free space.

cd patchset_directory/Disk1
./runInstaller

8) Specify the detail and continue with installation

Prerequisites for DB Upgrade

1. Copying and Adapting the SQL*Net Files
I. Log on as user ora.
II. If ora have environment variable TNS_ADMIN set, do the following:
a) Choose a new location for the new SQL*Net parameter files and set TNS_ADMIN to point to the new location .
b) Copy the SQL*Net parameter files from the old location to
c) Edit the new SQL*Net files by adapting all file paths for the new directory. Be sure to adapt the value of ORACLE_HOME in the listener.ora file.

III. If ora has not set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable, Oracle first searches in /etc, in
$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin for the SQL*Net parameter files. Choose which of the following applies to your installation:
n The SQL*Net parameter files are located in directory /etc:
a) Make a backup copy of the files.
b) Edit the new SQL*Net files by adapting all file paths for the new directory. Be sure to adapt the value of ORACLE_HOME in the listener.ora file.
n The SQL*Net parameter files are located in /network/admin:
a) Copy the SQL*Net parameter files from to .
b) Edit the new SQL*Net files by adapting all file paths for the new directory. Be sure to adapt the value of ORACLE_HOME in the listener.ora file.

IV. Since your database is still running in the old environment, do not start the listener with the new
listener.ora file at this point.

2) Shutting Down the SAP System and Oracle Listener Process
stopsap r3
lsnrctl stop
Database Upgrade( Started)

1) Checking the oratab Entry
oratab file( /etc )
a). Make sure that the oratab file contains the following entry:
::N
Where old_ORACLE_HOME stands for the path to the old oracle software installation.
b). If this entry does not exist, insert it using a text editor.

2) Starting the Database Upgrade Assistant
Start the Oracle Database Upgrade Assistant (DBUA).
Before Starting Check:
Confirm that the following environment variables point to Oracle 10.2 directories:
ORACLE_HOME points to /oracle//102_64
PATH
ORA_NLS10
LD_LIBRARY_PATH or SHLIB_PATH or LIBPATH
Before you start the DBUA make sure that the DISPLAY environment variable is correctly set.

Now start the DBUA:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
./dbua

3) After this you should be able to see this

4) Choose the database SID in the database screen. And click on “Next”

5) Check the Database Assistant Information window detail after analysis. If the information
is regarding the following points, you can ignore and proceed further by clicking “yes”
(Default is “No”)
1. Stale optimizer statistics
2. Changes to Oracle connect role
3. Information on invalid objects

6) In the SYSAUX creation screen apply the following changes
1. Datafile name and location
a. Change the data file path and file name as
/oracle/SID/sapdata1/sysaux_1/sysaux.data1
b. Increase the initial size to 1000Mb
c. Select the Autoextend on check box
d. Increment 100Mb
e. Modify the selection of Maximum size value to 2000Mb from Unlimited

7) In the Recompilation of invalid objects screen

1. Choose check for the recompilation of invalid objects
2. Select the check box for disable the Archive log during the upgrade.
3. Click on “Next” to proceed

8) Select the “I already backed up my database” and choose next

9) In the “Management Options” screen disable the Configure the database with
enterprise manager option

10) In the “Management Options” screen disable the Configure the database with
enterprise manager option

11) Click Finish on the summary Screen

12) a. Conversion Started By 09:00 PM
b. Conversion End By 11:07 Pm
c. Total Conversion Time 2Hr (Approx)

Post-Upgrade Steps

1). Finalizing the Environment of the oraUser
Make sure that the changes you made to the Oracle user environment are permanently stored in the profiles (.cshrc, .dbenv_.csh, and so on).
2) Checking the Upgraded Database
a) Log onto the database as the ora user.
b) Enter the following command to start SQLPLUS:
sqlplus / as sysdba
c) Enter the following SQL commands:
A) Enter the following command to determine the release of the installed software:
SQL> select version from V$INSTANCE;
B) Enter the following command to determine the release and status of the installed database components:
SQL> select comp_id, version, status from dba_registry;
Make sure that the command returns the status VALID.
C) Check that the version returned in the previous two commands is identical.

After the upgrade check that the following document is created:
$ORACLE_HOME/assistants/dbua/doc/help/DefaultBehaviorChangesin10g.html
3) Extract the latest BR*Tools to the kernel directory /sapmnt/SID/exe
(i) Cd /sapmnt/SYS/exe
(ii) Sapcar –xvf DBATL700O10_18-20001045.SAR

4) Copy the initSID.sap from /oracle/SID/920_64/dbs directory
(i) Cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
(ii) Cp /oracle/SID/920_64/dbs/initSID.sap .

5) Update the permissions for the OS$ users for BR*Tools usage
i) cp /sapmnt/SID/exe/sapdba_role.sql /oracle/SID/102_64/dbs
ii) cd /oracle/SID/102_64/dbs
iii) ./sqlplus /nolog @sapdba_role SID

6) Change database compatibility by executing the following SQL command as the ora user
a) Login as oraSID
b) Sqlplus /nolog
c) Connect / as sysdba
i) SQL> alter system set compatible='10.2.0' scope = spfile;
d) Restart the Oracle database.
i) Shutdown immediate
ii) startup

7) Deactivate the Oracle recycle bin by executing the following SQL command as the ora user:
a) SQL> purge dba_recyclebin;
b) SQL> alter system set recyclebin = 'off' scope = spfile;

8) Gather Oracle optimizer statistics as follows:
a) Execute the following commands as the ora user:
b) SQL> spool $ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs/dbstats.log
c) SQL> execute dbms_scheduler.disable('GATHER_STATS_JOB');
d) SQL> execute dbms_stats.gather_system_stats;
e) SQL> execute dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats (ESTIMATE_PERCENT => NULL,
METHOD_OPT => 'FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE AUTO',GRANULARITY => 'ALL',
CASCADE => TRUE, OPTIONS => 'GATHER', NO_INVALIDATE => FALSE);
f) SQL> execute dbms_stats.gather_fixed_objects_stats;
g) Check the log file dbstats.log created at $ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs for any errors during the gathering of statistics

9) Identify the objects that are invalid after the upgrade as follows:
a) Execute the following commands as the ora user:
b) SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql;
c) SQL> spool $ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs/invalid_post.log
d) SQL> select count(*) from dba_objects where status = 'INVALID';
e) SQL> select substr(owner,1,12) owner, substr(object_name,1,30) object, substr(object_type,1,30) type, status from dba_objects where status <>'VALID' order by owner;
f) SQL> spool off;
g) Check the log file to compare the invalid objects before the start of the upgrade to the upgraded system
10) Disable the following oracle parameters
a) Alter system reset commit_write scope = spfile sid=’*’;
b) Alter system reset cursor_space_for_time scope = spfile sid=’*’;
c) Alter system reset db_file_multiblock_read_count scope = spfile sid=’*’;
d) Alter system reset hash_join_enabled scope = spfile sid=’*’;
e) Alter system reset log_archive_start scope = spfile sid=’*’;
f) Alter system reset optimizer_index_cost_adj scope = spfile sid=’*’;
g) Alter system reset optimizer_mode scope = spfile sid=’*’;
h) Alter system reset statistics_level scope = spfile sid=’*’;
i) Alter system reset timed_statistics scope = spfile sid=’*’;
j) Alter system reset trace_enabled scope = spfile sid=’*’;

11) Restart the database to activate the changes
a) Sqlplus /nolog
b) Connect / as sysdba
c) Shutdown immediate;
d) Startup

12) Gather Statistics for SAP Schema
a) sqlplus /nolog
b) SQL> connect / as sysdba
c) SQL> @/oracle/stage/102_64/database/SAP/updDBSTATC10.sql

13) Update the DBCHECKORA control table after the upgrade as follows:
a) cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/SAP
b) sqlplus sap/ @dbcheckora10upgr

14) Checking the oratab entry
a) cd /var/opt/oracle
b) Make sure that there is an entry like the following in your oratab file:
i) SID:/oracle/C11/102_64:N

15) Start the Listener process
a) Login oraSID
b) Check the status of the listener process
(i) lsnrctl staus
c) if the process is already not running, start the process
i) To start the listener lsnrctl start

16) Don’t rename the old oracle home directory, just rename the /oracle/SID/920_64 directory.
a) mv /oracle/SID/920_64/bin /oracle/SID/920_64/bin.old

17) Change the following R3 instance parameter to the new oracle home /oracle/SID/102_64.
a) DIR_ORAHOME
b) DIR_CLIENT_ORAHOME
c) DIR_SERVER_ORAHOME

18) Install the Oracle 9.2.0.7 Client software as per the note 886783
a) Login as oraSID
b) cd /oracle/client
c) mkdir 92x_64
d) cd 92x_64
e) SAPCAR –xvf /oracle/stage/920_64/client/OCL92064.SAR

That's all If you have any Problem Start Troubleshooting

Dont forget to apply SAP recommeneded opatches after this..

Install TOP utility for Solaris

Hi,

Install top utility to findout resource consumption in solaris.

Go to www.sunfreeware.com.
Select your OS and platform.
Then find the top package. It will be in a gzip format.
Download this and get it on your server.
Then use gunzip to unzip the file (gunzip filename.gz).
Finally, used pkgadd to add the top package (pkgadd -d filename).

SMS Setting in SAP (SCOT Configuration for SMS)

Here i am sharing the procedure/configuration to send the message from SAP .

Go to T-code SCOT

You will see screen like this

Click on PAG and then create button on same screen

Provide detail as:

NODE: HTTP
Description: SMS Integration

Select HTTP Node

Provide URL provided by third party

Keep password this field blank as we have provided the same in URL itself

Provide maximum length of character allowed by service provider

Provide field address area as *

Provide the time in minutes or hours (depends )

Select Node is ready to Use

Now you can see HTTP service

HTTP Virtual host Configuration

Go to T-code SICF and select default host and then New Sub element

In Log-on tab provide user name and password for same client
Click on HANDLER List tab and provide the handler as shown below

Finally activate the service

In same T-code SICF

Maintain pager Service

Go to Client 000 and run t-code SA14

The program in the above error should be registered in the gateway for this connection test to complete successfully. The server program rfcexec is responsible for its registration on the gateway.

To register the program login into the OS level as sudo su - adm and execute the following command.

rfcexec –g -a -x

rfcexec is the server program name, the can be obtained from SM59, it is case sensitive and should match with the entry in SM59. The and can be obtained from the transaction SMGW. When this command is executed it goes to a hanging loop.

The connection will fail once this command is terminated or the user executing this command logs off

To avoid this, instead of using the above mentioned command an entry should be made in the file saprfc.ini

To do this, execute the following command

sudo su - adm

rfcexec –D

is the RFC destination name in SM59

So now we are done with registering the server program, but how do we check it is registered, once a server program is registered it is displayed in the Logged on clients in SMGW.

In transaction SMGW choose GOTO-> Logged on clients. There should be an entry for the server program in the screen that is displayed with system type Registered_TP (which indicates that the program is registered)

There can be many reasons due to which we might get this error saying server program is not registered, once such instance which I faced was where in the TREX server, a new RFC destination was defined, the TREX server creates a new program id each time this RFC destination is defined. This program id was not changed in TCP/IP connection is SM59 which was the reason why the destination was failing

Problem in transport

Hi All,

Recently i have faced a issue with long running transports the reasons is some corrupted transports. So once you met this error you will not be able to even transport any other request.So here is the procedure through which you can resolve any issue related to STMS

1.) Ask everybody to leave the STMS transaction

2.) Ensure that there are no running transports (I mean currently
started) and kill all "tp" processes on all application server of BWP

3.) Copy to another location the content of /usr/sap/trans/tmp
afterwards truncate the content of /usr/sap/trans/tmp

4.) Delete the content of TRBAT and TRJOB tables on BWP if they
containing some entries

5.) Please take a screenshot of the Import Monitor of BWP and after that delete the entry within

6.) Start the failing imports again.

How to change default log-off url in CRM web ui ??

In CRM new WEB UI, when profile other than IC_AGENT is assigned, there will be a system link "Log Off". When user clicks on it, the web ui session will be killed, and a page will be displayed. Normally it will be http://www.sap.com.

So here i am sharing how to change that link

In spro->Customer Relationship Management->UI Framework
->Technical Role Definition->Define Technical Profile
The field URL serves for this purpose.

So change the URL in url field and next time when you click log-off it will display your customized page.

Setting Up the Help Center in SAP CRM

Hi All,

These days i am updating lot of things about CRM ....dont get bored will update you soon with some new products also ....mean while i dont have much option ...

So here is the process to install the Help center for CRM WEB UI just equivalent to SAP Library in our CRM ABAP or R3 ABAP...

Follow these steps ...

1) Download library from http://service.sap.com/crm-inst. For the documentation on SAP CRM 2007, go to SAP CRM 2007 -> CRM Product -> Business User Documentation.

2) Unpack the ZIP file and install the business user documentation to a local file server.

3) In SAP CRM, start transaction SR13.

4) Remove all entries on tab "DynamicHelp" if there are any.

5) Make the following settings depending on if you have installed the documentation on a local file server or a web server:
Local File Server:
Go to tab "PlainHTMLFile" and fill the entries as follows:

Variant: enter a name for the variant, for example "HelpEnglish1"

Platform: "WN32" if you are using Microsoft Windows, else select from the F4 help.

Area: "XML_DOCU"

Path: Enter the path where the help is stored, for example "\\fileserver00\helpfiles\"

"Language": Enter the language key, for example "EN" for English or "DE" for German.

Default": Select one language entry as a default. This will be the fallback entry in case a language is not available.

To make the help available in several languages, you need to add one additional line per language, with a different variant name and language key.

Save your entries.

6) In Customizing, go to Sap Web Application Server -> Knowledge Management -> Settings in the Application System -> Sequence of Enhancements in Customer Namespace. Make the following entries
SPACE_01: "BBPCRM"
Enhancement: "700".
Select "Execute".
7) Re-start the Web user interface of SAP CRM. The "Help Center" and "?" links should now work in CRM WEB UI.

Note: While sharing HELP FILES take care that you create a folder and then put EN inside that like

//server/helpserver/EN

Here i am sharing some steps that can help you to improve your oracle Performance ,Performance slow down has its own reasons on different sites but still you can try these common steps ....

1) Update statistics (The most common thing you can do first update you DB statistics if you are not doing this on regular basis.

2) Collect No work load statistics by using sqlplus command "

EXEC DBMS_STATS.GATHER_SYSTEM_STATS;

3) Collect workload statistics :

EXEC DBMS_STATS.GATHER_SYSTEM_STATS('INTERVAL', < minutes>);

: Number of minutes during which you are to determine the WORKLOAD statistics.

4) Check alert log file for any warning errors common scenario:

a) ORA-01654: unable to extend
b) ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments:
To resolve these check your table space and increase them appropriately.

c) Check Point not complete ...Its a major issue that can effect your performance

Proposed solution : Increase the size of redologs by following below link :

REDO LOG RESIZE/MODIFY

Here is the procedure to add your Company's logo in CRM 2007 WEB UI

Step 1: Open the BSP application THTMLB_STYLES in the ABAP workbench SE80. Open the folders MIMES->sap_skins->defaults->styling->Ishape in the same order.

Step 2: You will find an image 'logo.png' in the folder Ishape. Open the context menu (using right-click mouse button) and select 'Update and Replace'. Select your company GIF or JPG image file from your local folder in your PC.

Transaction code - SMW0

Select Binary data for WebRFC application

press Enter

Click Execute

Click Settings -> Maintain MIME types

Click the Create button

Fill in :- TYPE : image/gif EXTENSION : .GIF

Click Save

Click Back to the Binary data for WebRFC

Click Create
Fill in :- Obj. name : zlogo.gif
Description : Company Logo

Click Import and specify the filename where your
GIF file is located.File type is BIN. Finish press the
Transfer button.
If successful, your logo will be shown in the Binary data for WebRFC.

Now run Transaction code SM30 - Table/View - SSM_CUST
Click Maintain
Click New Entries
Name Value to be set

Logoff and Login again

Now you can see the Logo...

Select * from v$log;

Now add a group, To add a log group

Alter database add logfile group 5 ('/oracle/SID/origlogA/log_g15m1.dbf','/oracle/SID/mirrlogA/log_g15m2.dbf') size 200M;

alter database add logfile group 6 ('/oracle/SID/origlogB/log_g16m1.dbf','/oracle/SID/mirrlogB/log_g16m2.dbf') size 200M;

alter database add logfile group 7 ('/oracle/SID/origlogA/log_g17m1.dbf','/oracle/SID/mirrlogA/log_g17m2.dbf') size 200M;

alter database add logfile group 8 ('/oracle/SID/origlogB/log_g18m1.dbf','/oracle/SID/mirrlogB/log_g18m2.dbf') size 200M;

After these commands, Force System for log switch
Alter system switch logfile;
Drop Existing Log groups files (Make sure no group has status active or current)

Alter database drop logfile group 1;
Alter database drop logfile group 2;
Alter database drop logfile group 3;
Alter database drop logfile group 4;

Remove these files from OS level
Now again add same Group

Hi All ,

Recently i met an error like "Unable to read Software Component Versions from SLD"

After creation Software Component and its version in System Landscape Directory (SLD), we need to import that in Integration Repository (IR) so that objects can be developed.

We do this in IR as Tools - Transfer from System Landscape Directory - Import Software Component Versions.

But while importing, it gives out above-mentioned error. Following is the checklist to resolve the error.

Use t-code SLDCHECK on ABAP stack to confirm the connection of XI system and SLD.

Check whether SLD and XI system are on same server.

In the Integration Builder page, Click on the Administration and check the following parameters to make sure they are pointing to right SLD system and port.

one of my friend ask me this question and here i am sharing my views on this question:

Transport domain and transport group does not having relationship.transport group is concern with transport directory not with transport domain.

The SAP system containing the same transport directory are
called to be in same transport group.That means in your
three system landscape is having individual directory
concept then there are three transport group in your system
landscape. and if you are having concept of common transport
directory in your system landscape then there is one
transport group in your system landscape.

Whereas a Domain Controller is the one box or SID which
would control the transports going in from DEV to TEST and
to PROD. Also the TP command is run from the domain
controller.

Hi All,

Sometimes, you may need to change the Title of the SAP Transaction code to a more meaningful one.

The steps are as follows:

Goto tcode SE63 ,On the top left Menu of the screen - Click Translation ---> Short texts - --> Transactions

For example, assuming you want to change the title of the t-code su10 from user maintenance: Mass changes Initial Screen to Mass User changes . On the first screen, fill in the following information:

Transaction code - SU10

Source Language - English

Target Language - English

To change the Title, click the Edit button. On the second line (the one in dark yellow), type in the Title (For e.g. Mass User changes) you want for the transaction code. Click the Save button

Now, call up the transaction code /nSU10 again and you should be able to view the new Title.

Here i am writing the procedure to lock amd unlock a client in SAP,very rarely we need to use it..But stil u should know so follow these simple steps...

1) To lock or unlock a client in R/3 System, run the following function modules in

transaction se37

2. SSCR_LOCK_CLIENT ( to lock the client)
3. SSCR_UNLOCK_CLIENT (to unlock the client)

Run these functions with a client input which is to be locked/unlocked. This function set flag '' Client is locked temporarily for client copy" in client maintenance menu.The client will be available for users DDIC and SAP*. If any other user tries to login, system gives message that ' Client locked temporarily'.

To unlock the client

1. Run transaction SE37
2. Enter the function module as SSCR_UNLOCK_CLIENT
3. press F8 or test run (single run).
4. Specify the client and execute(F8).

Follow similar procedure for locking the client...

Most of the times you might have question in your mind that why you give sap_all and sap_new everytime we create admin user (Altough some people used to give sap_all to every one ).So here i am sharing my knowledge about differnce between these 2 :

SAP_NEW:-
SAP_NEW is a SAP standard Profile which is usually assigned to system users temporarily during an upgrade to ensure that the activities and operations of SAP users is not hindered, during the Upgrade. It contains all the necessary objects and transactions for the users to continue their work during the upgrade. It should be withdrawn once all upgrade activities is completed, and replaced with the now modified Roles as it has extensive authorizations than required.

SAP_ALL:-
SAP_ALL is a SAP standard profile, which is used on need basis, to resolve particular issues which may arise during the usage of SAP. It is used by Administrators/Developers only and is applied on a need to use basis, then withdrawn. It contains all SAP system objects and Transactions. SAP_ALL is very critical and only SAP* contains SAP_ALL attached to it in the production system. No other dialog users have SAP_ALL attached to them.

SAP_NEW is used in the Production environment during a version upgrade whereas SAP_ALL shouldn't be or not allowed be used in Production except where necessary, in a controlled manner with all proper approvals from the customer.

Its a long time actually i was busy with my project and Its about to Go-live. So lots of pending task is there as I am alone handling all basis activities. Hope all of you are enjoying your life with SAP.
From last 45 days I have not taken any holiday, its continues working of daily 12 to 18 hrs. Tough, isn’t it? Not so much, because I am enjoying my work like anything!!

Even I worked sleepless for 48 hours ....At that time you may feel bad but it’s really Enjoying once everything is over!

!!24 Hour of Stress!!

1) First major blow on my head is for 24 hr as I started some transports at evening 08:00 PM which was sized around 2 GB ....(Tough time starts)......In the morning same process was going on and i was shocked and inform my manger ...Let’s wait till 12.
SO now its 3 PM and everyone is losing his patience .Simply they come to me and ask when it’s going to be over?????? I have no idea so I told.............

Now time starts Tring-Tring-Tring

Different People Different ideas! Kill This Transport!! What the hell you are doing!! 18 hours!!!!You don’t know anything!!! !!Who told you to do this!!

But Thanks to My seniors and management because it’s finally completed at 07:30 PM with general warnings. Thank God it’s Over....Otherwise they can kill me at that time!!

2) Time to start installation for Application server I ran Pre-requisite test done Ok. Start installation!! What’s this JAVA_HOME not found????? Why? I have installed supported version only!! No problem let’s check on OS level ...Hmm its working fine here also .......Time evening 06:00 PM cal OS team please and I asked them to install one lower version...But still same error!! NO YAAR
So now Again Start TRING TRING TRING ....Why u did not try with latest java????Sir it’s not supported by JAVA....Then I am sorry it’s too old.
Let me check oh JAVA is not ok I will get back to you soon ...He never came back!! :)
Oh you guys every time disturb us don’t you know which version is working fine...???Sir same version is working fine for all the servers.But I don’t know why...and one more thing I did not design SAP application and JAVA so Please stop blaming and help us if you can.....Phone disconnected!!GUD
Finally OS team Reinstall everything again Morning 4:00 AM please check now.....Same Problem Now WHAT? Raise the same To SUN team…

Finally they came back to us and provided a solution in the 12:00 PM .OS team started work and then it's done till evening 08:00PM.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA These 2 incidents I can never forget.........

Central User Administration in SAP (CUA)

Hi All,

Here is the procedure for Central user administration configuration in a landscape:

1) Create Logical systems to all clients for the landscape using BD54 or SALE as
comfortable.

2) Attach Logical system to clients using Same.

3) Create RFC connection to relevant systems with the same name as logical system name .

If you Logical system name is SIDCLNT100 for dev then create RFC connection to
DEV with same name SIDCLNT100.

4) Let us suppose you Central system: DEVCLNT100
Child system: QUACLNT200

5) Create user CUA_DEV_100 in devclnt100 system

4. Create user CUA_QUA_200 in quaclnt200 system.

Create RFC’s to child systems from central and central to child.

5) Now logon to central system and execute tcode scua to configure cua.

Enter the name of the distribution model: CUA

Press create

Enter ALL Child system RFC’s

Save your entries now result screen will appear

If you expand the nodes for

the individual systems, you normally see the following messages for

each system: .ALE distribution model was saved,. .Central User

Administration activated,. and .Text comparison was started.. If

problem messages are displayed here, follow the procedure in SAP

Note 333441:

6) Setting the Parameters for Field Distribution
Enter Tcode SCUM in central system following screen will appear
Now maintain your filed distribution and save it.
You can use transaction SUCOMP to administer company address data.
You can use transaction SCUG in the central system to perform the
synchronization activities between the central system and the child
systems by selecting your child system on the initial screen of transaction
SCUG and then choosing Synchronize Company Addresses in the Central System

After you have synchronized the company addresses, you can transfer the
users from the newly connected child systems to central administration.

This is done, as with the synchronization of the company addresses, using

transaction SCUG in the central system. To do this, on the initial screen of

transaction SCUG, select your child system and choose the Copy Users to

the Central System button.

Use

You can use the report RSCCUSND from the central system of Central User Administration (CUA) to synchronize the master data of selected users with a child system of the CUA. The report sends the master data (including role and profile assignments) to a child system of the CUA.

If master data exists in the child system for the user sent, it is overwritten.

Procedure
...

1. Start report RSCCUSND (for example, using transaction SA38).

2. In the Receiving System field, specify the child system to which you want
to send the user data.

3. You can use the fields User and User Group to restrict the number of users.

4. Specify the data that you want to distribute under Distribution Options.

5. Choose Execute.

Here i am sharing the procedure to run and use BRTOOL STUDIO
1) To Run Studio Go to Studio home and run server.cmd
2) To Access it go to url;
Https:hostname:port/studio
3) A pop-up window will come
Provide username:Administrator(Same as shown Capital A and all other small )
Password:You provide at the time of installation
4) Click on instances and then Create
5) Provide Info as Password for Administrator
Database user (Please note that password of DB user should not be contain’@’ in password string)
6) Give The Path for brtool profile parameter
Oraclehome/database/init.sap
7) Finally click on Go(Left Side)
8) Now you will be log off and login to your instance Using
Administrator as username and password you provide at the time of installation
9) Now here you can create more user for brtool with different user roles.
You can use it to view space, check status ,control files,backup,restore and you now more thing…….. :)

Give this path to next screen and password also you provide just now
Now a file has been generated
C:\document and setting\username\.keystore
6) Now installation is over.

Troubleshoot With SPAM (At Your Own Risk)

DO AT YOUR OWN RISK

Before doing Troubleshooting with SPAM queue please take Full Backup of your
system so at least you can rollback up to same scenario.
1) If your Spam queue Hangs at any point after DDIC_IMPORT phase then its not
possible to reset it using SPAM or any other transaction. So in this case you may
be need to reset queue manually using some commands.(DON’T DO THIS)
2) Table PAT01 clear the Support Package with error delete from sapr3.pat01 where
patch = ''; (in our case SAPKA70013)
3) commit;
4) Table PAT03 changed the status of '?' or 'I' to 'N' “update sapr3.pat03 set
status='N' where status = '?' and patch = ''; “
5) commit;
6) With user adm go to Prompt-DOS
7) tp showbuffer pf=c:\usr\sap\trans\bin\TP_DOMAIN_.PFL
8) tp delfrombuffer SID pf=c:\usr\sap\trans\bin\TP_DOMAIN_.PFL
9) After this you can check your SPAM queue it should be empty.
10) In case you face problems like “bupa_inbound” undefined that means your system
is inconsistent for that you can use
11) SE18 and then enter SPRX_PROXY_ACTIVATION click change and then
activate it.
12) After that system can be in consistent state but its not guaranteed as you manually
remove SPAM queue and only half he changes are there in System .So as soon as
you are able to find the error ,correct it and reimport the same SP to make your
system consistent.
13) I am still saying ‘DON’T DO THIS’ SAP WILL NEVER HELP YOU IN THIS
SCENARIO.

2. Unpack the patch using SAPCAR.
3. Stop the SAP System. (With NT you may also have to stop the SAP services using the Control Panel).
4. Save the kernel directory by backup or by copying into a separate backup directory.
UNIX: /usr/sap//sys/exe/run
NT: :\usr\sap\\sys\exe\run
If you use a 4.6D-based SAP system (64-bit, non-Unicode) or a SAP system 6.20 or higher (32-bit or 64-bit, Unicode or non-Unicode), there are also the following kernel directories:

Changing Password for Database Users Using BRCONNECT

As of Release 6.10, you can use BRCONNECT to change the passwords for the database users SAP, SYS, or SYSTEM.

By using BRCONNECT, you will have the password for SAP encrypted before storing it in the database.
Procedure

You can either change the passwords with BRCONNECT interactively or by using the command line.
Interactively
1. Start BRCONNECT with the command:

brconnect [-u system/] –f chpass –u

2. Enter the new password twice for confirmation.

Note

When you change the password interactively, on some platforms you can enter the new password hidden, as long as it is no longer than eight characters.
Using the command line

Enter the following command:

brconnect [-u system/] –c –f chpass –u –p

Where:

is the password of the SYSTEM database user. You can use another user with DBA privileges.

is the database user for which the password should be changed (for example, SAP).

is the new password for the user.

Note

Importing a SPAM/SAINT Update
Use:
A SPAM/SAINT Update (SPAM update for short) contains updates and improvements to Support Package Manager and Add-On Installation Tool. There is always one SPAM update for each release.

The latest SPAM update is also available in SAP Support Portal, under service.sap.com/spManager.

Make sure you always have the most recent version of SPAM update before importing Support Packages or Installation Packages.

Prerequisites
You can only import a SPAM update if there are no terminated packages in the system.

A dialog box informs you if there are any terminated packages. You then have two options:

● Import the entire queue to begin with and then the SPAM update.

● Delete the queue, import the SPAM update, then import the queue.

You can only delete the queue if module Import 1 has not yet started (up to phase SCHEDULE_RDDIMPDP).

Procedure
1. Call Support Package Manager (transaction SPAM).

2. Check if the SPAM update offered is newer than the one in your system.

3. To import the most recent SPAM update, choose Support Package ® Import SPAM update.

SPAM updates are automatically confirmed once they have been imported.

1)Create a system by right clicking on System entry and select Create new system.
2)Enter the System Name i.e., SID (3 chars)

4)Product Version= ECC 5.0 (select from the list)
5)Save the entries.

The configuration of the spool system is a system administration task. The central tool for this is transaction SPAD.

· To create an output device, choose Output Devices on the Devices / Servers tab page. If there is already a large number of devices in your system, you can restrict the output list in the field next to the button.
Important information for a device:
1)Output device
Name, maximum of 30 characters long (case-sensitive).

2) Short name
For internal system purposes (can be automatically generated).

3) Device type
Printer model/family (more information about this below). The device type SWIN transfers the SAP system format to the Microsoft Windows printer driver. This is useful, for example, if various printers are used for front end printing in a Microsoft Windows environment.

4) Spool server
SAP application server with spool work processes or logical server.

5) Location
For example, building and room number (so that users can find their output).

6) Message
Used to temporarily override the location (such as .Is currently in maintenance.)
7) Lock printer in SAP system
Output requests for printers for which this indicator is selected are created but not transferred to the printer. The user receives the message ...no immediate printing.

8) Host spool access method
How does a spool work process contact the operating system spooler?

9) Host printer
Name of the printer at operating system level. Note that this name is case-sensitive. The normal way of executing ABAP code in the SAP system is by entering a transaction code (for instance, SE51 is the code for the ABAP workbench). Transactions can be accessed via system-defined or user-specific, role-based menus. They can also be started by entering their transaction code (a mnemonic name of up to 20 characters) in the special command field, which is present in every SAP screen. Transactions can also be invoked programmatically by means of the ABAP statements CALL TRANSACTION and LEAVE TO TRANSACTION. Transaction codes can also be linked to screen elements or menu entries. Selecting such an element will start the transaction. The term "transaction" must not be misunderstood here: in the context just described, a transaction simply means calling and executing an ABAP program. This concept exists in SAP but is there called a LUW (Logical Unit of Work). In the course of one transaction (program execution), there can be different LUWs.

Let’s have a look at the different kind of transactions:

1) Dialog transaction
These are the most common kind of transactions. The transaction code of a dialog transaction is linked to a Dynpro of an ABAP program. When the transaction is called, the respective program is loaded and the Dynpro is called. Therefore, a dialog transaction calls a Dynpro sequence rather than a program. Only during the execution of the Dynpro flow logic are the dialog modules of the ABAP program itself are called. The program flow can differ from execution to execution. You can even assign different dialog transaction codes to one program.

2) Parameter transaction
In the definition of a parameter transaction code, a dialog transaction is linked with parameters. When you call a parameter transaction, the input fields of the initial Dynpro screen of the dialog transaction are filled with parameters. The display of the initial screen can be inhibited by specifying all mandatory input fields as parameters of the transaction.

3) Variant transaction
In the definition of a variant transaction code, a dialog transaction is linked with a transaction variant. When a variant transaction is accessed, the dialog transaction is called and executed with the transaction variant. In transaction variants, you can assign default values to the input fields on several Dynpro screens in a transaction, change the attributes of screen elements, and hide entire screens. Transaction variants are maintained in transaction SHD0.

4) Report transaction
A report transaction is the transaction code wrapping for starting the reporting process. The transaction code of a report transaction must be linked with the selection screen of an executable program. When you execute a report transaction, the runtime environment internally executes the ABAP statement SUBMIT—more to come on that.

5) OO transaction
A new kind of transaction as of release 6.10. The transaction code of an OO transaction is linked with a method of a local or global class. When the transaction is called, the corresponding program is loaded, for instance methods an object of the class is generated and the method is executed.

What is SAP?

SAP is the leading Enterprise Information and Management Package worldwide. Use of this package makes it possible to track and manage, in real-time, sales, production, finance accounting and human resources in an enterprise.

SAP the company was founded in Germany in 1972 by five ex-IBM engineers. In case you’re ever asked, SAP stands for Systeme, Andwendungen, Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung which - translated to English - means Systems, Applications, Products in Data Processing. So now you know! Being incorporated in Germany, the full name of the parent company is SAP AG. It is located in Walldorf, Germany which is close to the beautiful town of Heidelberg. SAP has subsidiaries in over 50 countries around the world from Argentina to Venezuela (and pretty much everything in between). SAP America (with responsibility for North America, South America and Australia - go figure!) is located just outside Philadelphia, PA.

The original five founders have been so successful that they have multiplied many times over such that SAP AG is now the third largest software maker in the world, with over 17,500 customers (including more than half of the world's 500 top companies). SAP employs over 27,000 people worldwide today, and had revenues of $7.34 billion and Net Income of $581 million in FY01. SAP is listed in Germany (where it is one of the 30 stocks which make up the DAX) and on the NYSE (ticker:SAP).

There are now 44,500 installations of SAP, in 120 countries, with more then 10 million users!

So what made this company so successful? Back in 1979 SAP released SAP R/2 (which runs on mainframes) into the German market. SAP R/2 was the first integrated, enterprise wide package and was an immediate success. For years SAP stayed within the German borders until it had penetrated practically every large German company. Looking for more growth, SAP expanded into the remainder of Europe during the 80's. Towards the end of the 80's, client-server architecture became popular and SAP responded with the release of SAP R/3 (in 1992). This turned out to be a killer app for SAP, especially in the North American region into which SAP expanded in 1988. The success of SAP R/3 in North America has been nothing short of stunning. Within a 5 year period, the North American market went from virtually zero to 44% of total SAP worldwide sales. SAP America alone employs more than 3,000 people and has added the names of many of the Fortune 500 to it’s customer list (8 of the top 10 semiconductor companies, 7 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies etc). SAP today is available in 46 country-specific versions, incorporating 28 languages including Kanji and other double-byte character languages. SAP also comes in 21 industry-specific versions. SAP R/3 is delivered to a customer with selected standard process turned on, and many many other optional processes and features turned off. At the heart of SAP R/3 are about 10,000 tables which control the way the processes are executed. Configuration is the process of adjusting the settings of these tables to get SAP to run the way you want it to. Think of a radio with 10,000 dials to tune and you’ll get the picture. Functionality included is truly enterprise wide including: Financial Accounting (e.g. general ledger, accounts receivable etc), Management Accounting (e.g. cost centers, profitability analysis etc), Sales, Distribution, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Purchasing, Human Resources, Payroll etc etc etc. For a full description of the modules included in SAP, see the related articles. All of these modules are tightly integrated which – as you will find out – is a huge blessing ... but brings with it special challenges. SAP are maintaining and increasing their dominance over their competitors through a combination of embracing the internet with mySAP.com (a confusing name we believe) to head off i2 etc extending their solutions with CRM to head off Siebel adding functionality to their industry solutions.

Where does the ABAP program run?

All ABAP programs reside inside the SAP database. They are not stored in separate external files like Java or C++ programs. In the database all ABAP code exists in two forms: source code, which can be viewed and edited with the ABAP Workbench tools, and generated code, a binary representation somewhat comparable with Java bytecode. ABAP programs execute under the control of the runtime system, which is part of the SAP kernel. The runtime system is responsible for processing ABAP statements, controlling the flow logic of screens and responding to events (such as a user clicking on a screen button). A key component of the ABAP runtime system is the Database Interface, which turns database-independent ABAP statements ("Open SQL") into statements understood by the underlying DBMS ("Native SQL"). The database interface handles all the communication with the relational database on behalf of ABAP programs; it also contains extra features such as buffering of frequently accessed data in the local memory of the application server.

SAP has three different layers as presentation layer (GUI), application layer (programs run on this) and data base layer where all data is stored and retrieved from user driven conditions, commands given by end user programmer through presentation layer.

SAPNOTES:

SAP Notes give you instructions on how to remove known errors from SAP Systems. They include a description of the symptoms, the cause of the error, and the SAP Release and Support Package level in which the error occurs.

Depending on the type of error, an SAP Note may also include:

· Workarounds

· Descriptions of how to correct repository objects in the ABAP workbench, known as correction instructions

· Links to Support Packages that solve the problem

You can access SAP Notes both from the SAP Service Marketplace and SAPNet - R/3 Frontend.

Caution: The Note Assistant can automatically implement only SAP Notes that have correction instructions.
Read the SAP Note carefully before you use the Note Assistant to implement it. The SAP Note can contain prerequisites, interactions, and references to postprocessing activities (making changes to a table, for example) that you must take into consideration when you implement it.
Technical Details on Correction Instructions Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Validity

All correction instructions specify the releases and Support Package levels in which you can implement them. These release and Support Package levels are known as the validity range of the correction instructions.

For example, if Support Package 5 corrects and error in Release 4.6C, the validity range of the correction instructions is 4.6C Support Packages 1 -4.

An SAP Note can also determine that correction instructions are not allowed to be implemented if a certain software component (an add-on, for example) exists in the system. This is the case, for example, when a correction changes a program part that is required by another software component in an unaltered form.

If an exception such as this was defined, it is displayed in the header area of the correction instructions, under Invalid for .

The Note Assistant automatically checks the validity and only implements a correction instruction if the system status is within the validity range specified.

Prerequisites

In some cases, you can only implement correction instructions if certain other correction instructions have already been implemented. This is due to related changes made to the same part of the source code, or semantic dependencies.

These dependencies are described in the header area of the correction instructions. These dependencies (prerequisites) mean that you need to implement a sequence of SAP Notes, and not just one SAP Note.

Search and reuse existing solution in Service Desk

After creating a solution in solution Database we might want to use it for same type of problem here are the steps:

1) Open the service ticket you wish to process
2) Go to change mode
3) Click on transaction data tab and then solution database

Click on search SDB in this screen provide the search criteria

Click ok to continue here you will get the list of relevant solution select checkbox click on cart to use the existing solution

Click ok to continue selected solution has been inserted in problem message

Here you can view and change the solution

That's all now you can change the status of message as well to solution provided.

How to use Solution database in Service desk

Login to solution manager, execute t-code crm_dno_monitor and search for transaction type SLFN

And select any transaction …Go to change mode click on action tab and select create solution in solution database

Save the changes you will get following screen

Provide the details about the problem type and solution type depending upon scenario

You can insert all related data in problem types by click on button insert text

Click on save button and save the changes

In solution database tab we can see the created solution

Configure solution database in SAP CRM 2007/Solution Manager

Hi,

I am describing the steps to configure the solution database in CRM 2007 scenario,although configuration part is almost same in case of Solution manager also.

So here i am trying to cover solution database for CRM and solution manager.

Configuration is valid for SAP CRM 2007 and solution manager 4.0/7.0

Prerequisites: Trex is need to be installed and connected with CRM/Solution Manager

1) Log-in to SAP CRM 2007 ,Go to TA SPRO
2) Navigate To Customer Relationship ManagementEnterprise IntelligenceSoftware
Agent Framework

3) Execute Name and configure Search Engine Press Continue

4) Select Search Engine Name STANDARD

5) Here change the communication type to TCP/IP

6) Press continue, in case of TCP/IP connectivity all fields remain in display mode only

Here i am skipping all other screens as you need to press continue only,dont give any input.

7) Now Move to next SPRO activity known as Name and configure Knowledge Base

8) Press F4 on first screen you may get some of existing knowledge base,If its blank then you need to create e.g. I have existing SDB if its not there then we can create same by following steps

9) Give description SDB and Linked Search Engine Name STANDARD, Press continue

10) Press Continue in following screen

11) You can leave this field blank as well either you can give same knowledge base name

12 ) press continue on next screen and complete teh same.

13) To use the solution database we need to create some more knowledge bases , So again execute name and configure knowledge bases and give description SDB_SOLUTIONS, and Linked search engine STANDARD

14) Create 1 more Knowledge base SDB_PROBLEMS with same options as fro SDB

15 ) Now If you Press F4 in front screen you can view 3 knowledge bases

16) Next SPRO activity Configure RFC destination
For this to work we need to have TREX installed in your landscape and also connection established between TREX and CRM system. Contact your basis for this activity .

17) Select Search engine STANDARD

18) Here select the RFC connection which link to your TREX server ,give the RFC name and then press test connection it should show OK,incase test failed contact BASIS team to resolve the same.

19) In next screen as well give same RFC and test connection
20 ) Next SPRO activity

21) Select one Knowledge Base name SDB and continue

22) Note: search engine name should be standard or what you have specified while definig the knowledge base

23)Here you can enter tuning parameter for Index (better to start with standard)

24) In next of teh screens press next only and complete the same.
25) In the same manner configure compilation for rest of knowledge bases too
26) Finally SPRO activity Configure application

27) Select application name ICWEBCLIENT

28) Provide Knowledge base name related to this

29) Finish the activity with default options.

30) Check and verify setting
Go to TA crmc_saf_tool

31)Output should be green

32) In the same window navigate to GOTO knowledge base compilation

Here you can compile and administrate the knowledge base.
After this you can use Solution database in CRM.
